Last LAP!!!

Alright guys, today was a big step to the final lap, so great work, and sorry if I left kinda some of you guys in the dark, but hopefully this post will clear things up.

Soooo, basically we are pretty much done everything, all that is left is putting things together and the final presentation, which I will complete. Monday will be our final presentation so be prompt for that, cuz this time I won't be the only one blabbing (I will probably send the class straight into sleep mode if I do), I think it will be more effective if everyone spoke from their expertise~ but more about that later.

ah yes, I know this is quite minor, but our team logo still needs revising so if anyone is up for the job, please feel free to do one.

So with all that said, I can safely say its cruise control from now till the presentation! (but of course, please keep checking on the blog cuz there might be things that need to be clarify)

Thats basically it, Good luck on the Exam and see you Monday!!

Final Round!!!

Hey guys, again I congratulate you guys for the research and todays presentation.

So today's events in short quick points:
  • Had another presentation, (mainly used information you guys provided)
  • We divided the park into two sections (so we now have the Northern section, and the Southern section)
  • We have calculated (with other groups) that there shall be 12000 families that will be taking resistance within our homes. Therefore we will be dividing the 12000 into the two parts (northern and southern section)
  • We also wanted to incorporate Wind Mills into our design
  • We also (maybe, if possible) wanted to use the surrounding resources as much as possible (ie the steam plant or the train station)
  • Also, as it turns out, our location we place the build forms have to correspond to the other team members map, (eg we need to know where Open space decides to place their transit system so we can place our buildings closer to the buses, and subway etc.)
  • And as Ian pointed out in class today, the people will only walk within 200 meters of the buildings, so if we have our townhouses down south and the subway is all the way north, the south buildings will not benefit the access routes.
that is basically the cut down of today's class, Again if you guys are confused with any of this please email me~

Thanks again

OH right, um apparently there is class this Wednesday (and the final is due next week Monday)
so it will be great if we can have one final group meeting on Wednesday's class.

Where to start!

Ha ha ha, I totally forgot to explain what to do on the last blog entree, Sorry!

anyhow, I think the best way to start off is to research on the population. As we discussed in class, the population within DownsView is very important, and it can determine how well or how bad the build forms work.

  • Therefore, we have to research on Who would go for a townhouse (eg. 2 person family, 4 person family or is it single parents)
  • Who would the people be, is the townhouses consider upper class, middle class, and is so why?
  • Also, (if people have the map that Ian gave out during class) how would the townhouses be placed on the park? "if you don't have the map, I will try to upload to the blog, if not blast me an email and I can send a digital file to you"
Those should be some good places to start, try to post up some info onto the blog itself so everyone could see. Additional information is definitely appreciated!!!!

Hope this helps Guys

and yea... if this doesn't help blast me some more emails :)

P.S. !!!! Should read comments if you don't already! it will help you I swear!

Good Job Guys!!

Hey guys, thanks for the good work today, I think we are heading towards the right path. Its great to know that we set the class standard :P So keep up the good work!

Alright, so next week, it would be great every one could bring in bits of information that could help out with the initial planning. It would even be better if you guys can post stuff up too on the blog (ie websites you find that are useful)

Just a recap for those who have missed out on today's class:
  • We are basically brainstorming and gathering any information related to build form.
  • We have isolated one section (the townhouses) to be our main focus
  • We are "kinda" branching out towards our own field of work (ie, illustrators working on illustrating  the overall layout etc etc.) But we need more planning on that.
If there is any questions just post them up or email me at:
Tiratos@gmail.com <-- I do check daily

Thanks again guys

Alright, so lets start the project off by um... answering the require questions:

  1. What does the community Consist of?
  2. How will your approach and concept benefit the community?
  3. What are some specific issues or elements related to the design of "Build Form"?
  4. What aspects of flow or elements of natural capital can be identified and accounted for in the design?
  5. what format will you use to communicate your ideas?

P.S. I can do a quick keynote presentation on our ideas if you guys wish, just for the 10min prez on monday.
